Why Go

The gate was built in the early 16th century as part of the city walls. In the chapel over the arch, the painting of Our Lady of the Gate of Dawn, from the 1620s, draws Catholic and Orthodox pilgrims, and its windows face the street so passersby can pray.

Steps up to the chapel start in the courtyard of the Carmelite church of St. Theresa.
