Getting There
In the park's southwest, 30 miles from the West Entrance.

Why Go

Rangers predict each eruption, and benches ring the cone. Then walk the boardwalks past Castle, Grand and Beehive geysers to the deep blue of Morning Glory Pool, about 1.5 miles out.

The Old Faithful Inn, from 1904, is the great log hotel of the national parks. Step inside even if you aren't staying, and see its soaring lobby.

Tips

  • Stay on the boardwalks. The ground is thin, and the water can kill.
