Why Go

The motel's facade and Room 306 are preserved as they were on April 4, 1968. Exhibits walk you through the Montgomery bus boycott, the Freedom Rides, the March on Washington and the Memphis sanitation workers' strike. Across the street, the boarding house from which the shot was fired is part of the museum.
