Why go
When it opened in 1883, it was the longest suspension bridge in the world, and its stone towers and web of steel cables are still one of the city's great sights. The wooden walkway runs above the traffic lanes, with views of the Manhattan skyline, the harbor and the Statue of Liberty.
Tips
- Keep to the pedestrian side of the walkway; cyclists use it too.
- Combine it with DUMBO and Brooklyn Bridge Park at the Brooklyn end.
