Why Go

Jews have lived in Rome since before the time of Christ, and from 1555 to 1870 the popes walled them into this quarter. Its lanes are known for Roman-Jewish food, above all crisp fried artichokes.

The Great Synagogue and the Jewish Museum of Rome stand by the river, and the Turtle Fountain is a few steps away.
