Why Go

For centuries the doge lived here and the Republic was governed from its halls. The Hall of the Great Council has Tintoretto's Paradise, one of the largest oil paintings in the world.

A covered passage, the Bridge of Sighs, leads across a canal to the prisons; Casanova famously escaped from the cells under the roof. The ticket also covers the Correr Museum across the square.
