Why Go

From 1563 to 1830, while the Ottomans held Budapest, 11 kings and 8 queens of Hungary were crowned here, among them Maria Theresa. A golden replica of the Hungarian crown, 85 meters up, tops the spire.

Brass crowns set in the pavement of the old town mark the route of the coronation processions.
