Why Go

Yaroslav the Wise built the cathedral in the 11th century to rival Constantinople's Hagia Sophia. Behind its white baroque exterior, added centuries later, the old interior survives, with a golden mosaic of the Virgin praying over the altar and frescoes of Yaroslav's family. Climb the bell tower for views over the domes of the upper town.
