Why Go

Named for the Latin once spoken by its students, the quarter has been home to the University of Paris since the Middle Ages. Its lanes run down to the river, where green bookstalls line the quays opposite Notre-Dame.

The Panthéon and the Luxembourg Gardens are at its top, and its cafés and small cinemas are busy at night.
