Why Go

Built as a church in the 18th century and turned into a national mausoleum during the Revolution, it holds the tombs of Voltaire, Rousseau, Victor Hugo, Émile Zola and Marie Curie.

A copy of Foucault's pendulum, which proved the earth's rotation here in 1851, swings under the dome.
