Why Go

Gazi Husrev-beg, governor of Bosnia, built the mosque in 1530–1531 along with a library, a school and baths. Shelled during the siege, it has been fully restored, and visitors may enter outside prayer times.

Opposite, the clock tower is one of the few in the world set to lunar time, striking twelve at sunset.

Tips

  • Remove your shoes and cover arms and legs; women should cover their hair, and scarves are provided.
