Through the Pile Gate, where city buses stop.

Why Go

The street was rebuilt after the earthquake of 1667, with matching stone houses and shops on the ground floor. At the west end, the domed Onofrio's Fountain of 1438 still pours water brought from the hills.

At the east end are the Sponza Palace, once the customs house and mint, the clock tower, Orlando's Column and the baroque Church of St. Blaise, the city's patron.
