Why Go
Built of iron and glass in 1874, the market's ground floor is where Florentines shop for food in the mornings. Upstairs, a food hall serves pasta, pizza and lampredotto until late.
Street stalls around it sell leather goods, and the Medici church of San Lorenzo, designed by Brunelleschi, is next door.
